Big Deck:
The Tokyo Game Show begins tomorrow, just as Valve is on the cusp of launching its wildly successful Steam Deck in Asian markets. What better way to flex than by building a super-enormous version of the portable PC to loom large over the show floor?

While Valve’s new wunderkind of a mini-PC has been surpassing its own shipping and manufacturing goals, it only opened up pre-orders in South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan last month, according to The Verge. Valve seems to be aiming to impress at the show; as seen in tweets from the Japanese Steam Deck Twitter account, the company built a massive Steam Deck for its booth at the show.

Featured Games:
Steam Deck is Valve’s big entry into the handheld console space, and previously, the device has been made available to pre-order in some countries (add Mexico already, Valve). Some of these countries include Asian regions like Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. On the topic of Japan, Tokyo Game Show 2022 is happening in a few days, and the Steam Deck will be making an appearance.

Thanks to Valve and Asian provider Komodo, the Steam Deck will have a massive booth at the event showcasing over 20 unique titles running on Steam Deck’s hardware. Visitors can find the booth on the north side of Hall 5, allowing them to try out a Steam Deck themselves before the product starts shipping later in the year.

Prototypes:
A collection of playable Steam Deck prototypes surface as part of a launch event for the gaming handheld in Asia, documenting how the design has evolved since mid-2019. Snaps of various models documenting the evolution of the handheld were shared on Twitter by Valve’s Pierre-Loup Griffais, a member of the Steam Deck team, following the portable PCs appearance at the Tokyo Game Show (alongside an additional not-so-portable replica).

While most of the units are visually similar, all featuring dual thumbsticks and sloping front edges, for example, there are some notable differences between them. One model seen in the middle of the lineup has attracted attention thanks to its clean design and circular trackpads, reminiscent of those featured on the now discontinued Steam Controller.
