How good is SteamOS 3.5? – Testing 5 AAA Games on the Steam Deck

In today’s video we will be testing 5 of the heaviest games on the Steam Deck. SteamOS 3.5 recently released into the beta branch for Steam Deck and it comes with a lot of improvements and new things. Reportedly a lot of games now run better, some even with 15-20% increase in FPS. Today we are putting the following games to the test:

Timestamps:

00:00 – Horizon Zero Dawn
04:17 – Red Dead Redemption 2
9:46 – Remnant 2
12:32 – Valheim
13:52 – Assassin’s Creed Valhala

In almost all cases, the games indeed run better. The only exception is Remnant 2 which runs a lot worse than before. I was able to play with 40 FPS before 3.5 and now I barely keep a steady 25 FPS in combat. Remnant 2 is notoriously badly optimized so take this information with a grain of salt.
